For both parts of the procurement the military boots have to meet equal general requirements (during production Council of the European Communities directive 89/686/EEC relating to personal protective equipment must be observed), the only difference is in colour. The products have to meet at least the requirements of standard EN 347-2and meet the following description.
The top material of the boots is a combination of soft and pliable, water resistant, and breathing leather (minimum thickness 1.8 mm) and of a strong (tear strength of no less than 60 N) breathable textile material (minimum 250 g/m2). The leather details strengthen the textile material on top, especially in the parts of the boots that carry a lot of load.
The height of the leg (measured upwards from the edge of the sole in the centre of the backside) is ca 20 cm. The upper part of the boots leg is padded. No breaking folds must develop when the padded part is bent around the foot.
The soft tongue is fixed to the sides, to prevent sand from entering the boot.
The closure (with non-corroding openings/loops) has well running,durable, round laces.
The cushioning, with anti-bacterial properties, is resistant to wear and is breathable.
The boot has an anti-shock and energy-returning heel.
The insole-foot support has an anatomic shape, is replaceable, washable,moisture absorbing, and fast drying.
The toe-box and the heel of the boot are reinforced. The toe-box has to protect the toes from the impact of objects that may fall on the toes.
A deep sole pattern prevents slipping. The outer sole is oil and petrol resistant.
The sole must not be too soft (to prevent sharp stones from being feltthrough it).
All materials used must be heat resistant (at least 40锟?C), the outer sole has to resist a constant temperature of at least 100锟?
