Our first product will be a digital wall calendar. Here is asummary of the specifications:
1-Hardware
Screen : LCDs, between 9"-15" range, mimimu resolution of 1024x768
CPU : low end ARM9/11. Candidates would be :
Atmel"s AT91SAM9261 (prefered option : integrated 24-bit LCD controller, 2x USB 2.0, and a small DSP-accelerator we can use for fancier graphics to make up for the fact it"s only 210MIPS)
Freescale"s MX21/MX27 (open board designs are available with the MX21, which can get us to market quicker; the MX27 adds speed at 400MHz, and has a full h264 decoder if we want to add video, and an ethernet MAC if that matters; both chips have an 18-bit LCD controller which we might be able to use, and USB2)
Marvell"s PXA270 (has the advantage of age, chip availability, integrates an XGA video controller and USB1, is very spartan beyond that)
Storage : RAM: 32MB of SDRAM, 32MB of Flash
Connection : Wifi (optional), USB (mandatory), Bluetooth (optional), LAN (optional)
Input device : USB (mandatory), Wireless Keyboard via bluetooth (optional), SD slot (optional)
Button :very simple button pad in the front, 5 to 6 buttons (function to be agreed)
backup battery :A 9V or 3 AA-sized
